Residents and visitors to Fayette County will have plenty of entertainment coming up this summer. As they do annually, The Villages Amphitheater and The Fred Amphitheater have announced the lineups for their respective summer concert series.

Kicking off on May 1, Villages will bring in country music legends, The Oak Ridge Boys, who will offer up 50 years of tradition with such classic hits as, “Elvira”, “Come On In”, and “Bobby Sue”. Johnny Rivers will grace the Villages stage again on June 12 offering up some of his classics.

For R&B fans, The Family Stone will perform on July 31 with their blend of rock and R&B music including “Dancing to the Music” and “Everyday People”.

Series tickets for The Villages go on sale Feb. 18 at a flat price of $150 for reserved seats and $110 for general admission seating on the lawn. Individual concert tickets go on sale March 10 and are $30 for lawn and $39 for reserved seating.

“Our loyal patrons told us that they wanted more variety in the series, so we worked really hard to get a mix of groups that would appeal to fans of many types of music,” said Brian Wismer, amphitheater manager. “I think this is our best lineup to date.”

The Fred will open its season on May 15 with Gloria Gaynor and The Village People. June 5 will welcome Cheap Trick, who has sold more than 200 million records, 29 movie soundtracks and 40 gold and platinum recording awards. Their hit songs include “Surrender” and “The Flame."

With 25 years and more than 20 million albums to their name, the B52s will grace The Fred stage with such dance-rock tunes at “Rock Lobster,” “Love Shack,” “Private Idaho” and “Plant Claire.”
